While working-class residents in Vancouver struggle to find a home, more and more architecturally notable condominiums have sprouted up. The influence of foreign buyers on driving the real estate market and creating demand for these exclusive architectural projects is controversial. While the quick rebound in real estate prices through the tail end of the pandemic has thrown a wrench into the foreign buyer narrative, it is undeniable Vancouver's real estate was and will continue to be part of a globalized market. My photocomposites, in addition to Canadian $100 bills, show Chinese yuan as well as American dollars, the foreign buyers we talk much less about. I want viewers to confront their entangled feelings towards racism, globalization and class through the context of housing.
